Retro Space Saka Hall in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.

Visitors to Sapporo on the Japanese island of Hokkaido shouldn’t miss the city’s weirdest attraction – the Retro Space Saka Hall.

The Retro Space Saka Hall is a museum of sorts, but is the collection of one man obsessed with the Showa era of Japanese history (1926 to 1989). But while there are loads of vintage magazines, toys and artwork to pore over, most of the museum is filled with pornography and kinky home-made erotica.

Most notable are the dozens of dolls in compromising positions – mostly in bondage or dressed in revealing leather and latex.

Retro Space Saka Hall isn’t suitable for children. But the owner clearly has a warm heart and genuine passion for his oddball collection, and his museum never feels gratuitous or exploitative.
