Ma Wan Town, also known as Ma Wan Main Street Village, was once a bustling fishing community on the island of Ma Wan, Hong Kong.
But today it’s a ghost town.
When a new apartment complex opened in 2000, villagers were rehoused and Ma Wan Town was scheduled for redevelopment.
But 18 years later the village is still standing, and has become a popular destination for urban explorers.
Most of the houses in Ma Wan Town are empty, but I found this house set back from the main street, which looked as if it was abandoned in a hurry.
There were used dishes on the table… and a broken handgun on the floor.
I’d love to know what happened here!
