An insanely deep pool of impossibly blue water on the Perito Moreno glacier in Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina.
I spent an incredible day hiking across Perito Moreno, and experienced a landscape unlike anywhere else on earth.
It was like trudging across an alien planet, and I’ll never forget the insistent ‘crunch, crunch, crunch’ of my spiked shoes on the ice.
On Perito Moreno, long stretches of white are punctuated by chasms and pools of blue water like this, some of which are so deep it’s impossible to see the bottom.
The water is so pure it can be drunk directly from the pools, but I was nervous when filling my bottle as I didn’t fancy slipping into the icy depths!
