A view across the Atacama Desert, just before the sun sets and the temperature plummets.
I took this picture outside the wonderful Tayka del Desierto hotel, which is in the heart of the Atacama wilderness.
I stopped there for a night during an epic journey from Uyuni, across the Atacama desert, and back to the Salar de Uyuni salt flats.
Along the way I saw 1000s of flamingos, bubbling pools of molten magma, and absurd rock formations that look like a Dalí daydream.
It was one of my first proper adventures, and gave me the bug for seeking out dark places and the road less travelled.
