Bolivia, Cementerio de Trenes (Train Graveyard)

When the Bolivian mining industry collapsed in the 1940s, dozens of steam trains used to transport high-grade ores to ports on the Pacific Ocean were left to rot in the desert. You can see these stricken locomotives in the Cementerio de Trenes (Train Graveyard) near the town of Uyuni, an essential stop on tours of the Salar de Uyuni.
