For most of the year, the streets of Oruro in Bolivia are grey and lifeless.
But that soon changes when the annual Carnaval de Oruro shimmies into town.
Bolivia’s Oruro Carnival is a religious festival that dates back over 200 years.
But while religion is still at the heart of this colourful celebration, these days it’s mostly an excuse for a booze-fuelled knees-up.
The Carnaval de Oruro is one of the best parties I’ve ever been to, and photos from this 20-hour, non-stop shindig always make me smile.
