Ancient paintings at the Inka Mach’ay cave, Bolivia.
I saw these fascinating cave paintings or pinturas rupestres as I hiked through the countryside north west of Sucre.
The cave paintings are said to be over 2,000 years old, but this is contested by some archaeologists. The images represent llamas, hunters and shamen.
It was incredible to see these messages from mankind’s distant past. And as we were miles from the nearest village – and had the beautiful valleys near Incamachay and Pumamachay to ourselves – it was a magical experience.
