Cambodia, Angkor Wat

Bayon is a Khmer temple in the Angkor complex, Cambodia.

The temple is famous for its serene and smiling stone faces on the upper terrace and central peak.

Bayon’s faces are part of sprawling mythological and historical scenes, and are probably the most photographed attractions in Angkor.

But a word of warning. If you want to see these stone marvels, get to Bayon just after sunrise. ‪From around 9am the temple is flooded with the planet’s rudest and pushiest tourists, and you’ll need sharp elbows and a bad attitude to get decent shots!‬
