China, Shanghai, Bund Sightseeing Tunnel

If you’re trying to cross the Huang Pu River in Shanghai’s Bund district, you can catch a cheap metro train.

But why do that when you can take a psychedelic trip in a private rail car?

The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel is found under Oriental Pearl Tower, and whisks passengers to the other side of the river through a tunnel pulsing with lights and video screens.

The trip lasts roughly five minutes, and is soundtracked by ominous music and sound effects.

But if you want to travel in kaleidoscopic style, this hallucinogenic underwater pipe is hard to beat.

A word of warning, though. The entrance to the tunnel is hard to find, and there aren’t many signs to point you in the right direction.

Don’t leave this trip until your final hours in Shanghai, or else you’ll be disappointed as you wander around in confusion!
