Creepy manequins are abandoned in the buzzing market town of Otavalo in Ecuador.
Although portions of the market are open every day, Otavalo is busiest on Saturdays, when most of the town is crowded with vendors and stalls.
Locals sell (deep breath)… textiles, jewellery, musical instruments, dream catchers, leather goods, fake shrunken heads, indigenous costumes, hand-painted platters and trays, purses, clothing, spices, raw foods, spools of wool and much, much more.
But be wary! Many of the goods sold in Otavalo are mass-produced in nearby factories and sold by middle-men.
If you’re looking for true artisan products, they can be purchased in neighbouring communities or at the Museo Viviente Otavalango.
