Metal faces representing victims of World War II in the Jüdisches Museum (Jewish Museum) in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, Germany.
This installation, titled Shalekhet (Fallen Leaves), was created by artist Menashe Kadishman, and features over 10,000 open-mouthed faces cut from heavy iron plates.
The faces cover the floor of the installation, and visitors are encouraged to walk over them and listen to the jarring, clanging sounds as the metal pieces jostle together.
