A miner carrying blocks of sulphur climbs from the crater of the Kawah Ijen volcano in Java, Indonesia.
Every day, dozens of workers use straw baskets to carry sulphur from the summit of Kawah Ijen, all the way to a weighing station at the bottom of the mountain.
When I visited Kawah Ijen I spoke to many of the miners, all of whom seemed to be happy in their work.
Because so many tourists now come to see the miners, the workers have almost doubled their income in tips and gifts.
The work is gruelling. But the miners I met like meeting visitors, appreciate how the work keeps them fit, and enjoy the sense of camaradarie with other Kawah Ijen workers.
