The Japanese macaques at Jigokudani Monkey Park are the most photographed primates in the world. But that won’t stop me sharing my snaps of these amazing creatures…
I was lucky to have an opportunity to visit Jigokudani Monkey Park in both the summer and winter, and I’ve seen the famous macaques both with and without snow.
Although the park is fun to visit at any time of year, it’s magical to see the monkeys relaxing in the hot springs when the mountains are blanketed in white.
But a word of warning – get there early. After 10am the crowds are relentless, and it’s hard to get close to the monkeys as they bathe in the steam pools.
