A legendary Japanese monster, glimpsed through a peephole in the Yokai House and Stone Museum in Okoke.
Yokai House was an unexpected treat when I visited the Iya Valley to see Scarecrow Village – a place that features heavily in my blog and Instagram feed.
The museum is devoted to Japanese folklore monsters, many of which are said to stalk the Iya Valley.
The monsters are brought to life by polystyrene statues and dioramas, many of which look unintentionally funny and not at all threatening.
You’ll only see this snarling demon if you have the guts to peer through a tiny peephole.
