Skulls of defeated warriors are displayed in Monsopiad Cultural Village near Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (Borneo), Malaysia.
The village celebrates the customs and heritage of the indiginous Kadazandusun people, and its House of Skulls honours the legendary headhunter and warrior known as Monsopiad.
According to local legend, Monsopiad used a custom-made sniper blowgun and a machete decorated with the hair and bones of his dead rivals to attack and decapitate over 40 enemies.
The skulls of Monsopiad’s foes are displayed in the rafters of a longhouse in the cultural village, and are a fitting tribute to this historical badass.
