West Papua, Korowai tribe

Deep in the jungles of West Papua, a Korowai man chops sago.

The Korowai live in treehouses in the jungles of southern Papua, and in 2015 I joined an eight-day expedition to meet them.

Sago is the staple diet of the Korowai, and we saw the tribe working together to cut down trees and process the pulp.
